There is a law of the universe that is of great importance for anyone who wishes to reach their highest potential in their career, as well as in all areas of life in general. Truthfully, it can literally determine just how successful you will be at everything you try. Just what is this law that is so important to your future achievements?
It is the law of cause and effect which simply states that every result or consequence you experience has a direct cause which can be traced. If you want to achieve success in a particular area, you need to identify which causes lead to your desired effects. This law can apply to every area of life. You may be more familiar with this idea with the wording, for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.
Here is a rule given by Brian Tracy in his excellent book entitled No Excuses: The Power of Self-Discipline. "If you do what other successful people have done, over and over again, nothing can stop you from eventually enjoying the same rewards that they do. But if you don't do what successful people do, nothing can help you."
If you want to reap certain rewards, you'll have to sow the necessary seeds. If you are unhappy with what you have achieved (that is what you are getting out of a particular assignment), then you are not putting in what you need to put in so as to be successful. This doesn't necessarily mean that you have been acting irresponsibly or that you are a lazy person who isn't working hard at your job.
As a matter of fact, many people put in an inordinate amount of effort into a particular task but get very little out of it, so they end up feeling like they are spinning their wheels. They simply have not learned what it takes to be successful in their particular field.
So what do you do if you have no idea how to get on the right track or right course in your career? It's pretty simple really. You simply find people who are already successful and learn from and emulate their actions. You can often sit down and have a conversation with them and receive excellent advice about how to further your career in sales, law, medicine, or whatever field you may be in. Learn from those who have already been successful, and simply do what they do.
